Breathing is the most natural acts, no need to be deliberate at all. Breathe in, breathe out. Slow down the beast inside you, learn to calm yourself in spite of all the disturbances outside.

Satr: I’m the kind of person who gets nervous relatively easily, and when I arrived in Europe last week, I couldn’t help but feel a bit nervous in a new environment. But my new friends LEDANIA and SONG said, “Don’t be nervous, Satr. exhale, inhale, just feel your breath.” After that, I really wasn’t so overwhelmed. That night I went back to the hotel and thought back to this experience that had happened during the day. The idea slowly took shape as I drew and listened to their music.

I named it “Breathing”:

“Breathing is the most natural acts, no need to be deliberate at all. Breathe in, breathe out. Slow down the beast inside you, learn to calm yourself in spite of all the disturbances outside.”

American Truck Simulator hides a message to the community deep in Wyoming

American Truck Simulator's 1.45 update entered open beta today, and the community has already discovered an Easter egg hidden deep in a new area of Wyoming.

The 1.45 update introduces a "much-requested" new addition to Wyoming. The city of Cody and the US-14 highway serve as a sort of gateway to Yellowstone National Park - both in real life and now in the game.

After the beta went live, players found a brief message from developer SCS Software just to the west of the newly-added Cody, stuck on an LED traffic sign next to a lakeside parking area. "You're welcome #BestCommunityEver".

That hashtag is frequently used on SCS's social media to refer to the game's players. What are they "welcome" for? I'm guessing the free update for everyone that owns the Wyoming DLC.

There are a number of other additions in 1.45, including ownable tanker trailers - or "cistern trailers," as the official blog calls them. The update also redesigns six of the fictional gas station and truck stop brands that have been in the game from the start. "Originally when we first designed these areas," the devs explain, "we did not have the amazing team of dedicated 2D artists and talent at our disposal which we have now at SCS Software."

Even better, the update adds a rain sensor option, so your windshield wipers will automatically adjust to the amount of rainfall - something I wish my actual car did. There's also now an option to hide the giant yellow X marks that block off the roads you can't access, for a more visually-pleasing way to drive.

The best sim games will make your most mundane dreams come true.

Team Fortress 2 update lets you boot bots faster, unless they kick you

Team Fortress 2 update lets you boot bots faster, unless they kick you

A new Team Fortress 2 update has arrived, featuring several updates aimed at solving the FPS game’s notorious bot and cheater issues highlighted by the recent #SaveTF2 campaign. The new TF2 patch features an improved kick vote system designed to allow players of the FPS game to remove troublesome bot accounts from servers more quickly, and fixes an exploit which allowed players to enable cheats in ostensibly secure servers.

The June 21 Team Fortress 2 update allows both teams in a match to run a vote to kick at the same time, and also allows these votes to occur at the same time as a global vote. In lieu of any more substantial fixes to deal with bots, this should at least act as somewhat of a stopper against the never-ending tide for players to try and keep their servers under control.

In addition, you can no longer change your name during a game - this was often used by bots to duplicate real player names and cause confusion. Another potentially troublesome exploit allowed players to activate the ‘sv_cheats’ command while playing on a secure server, allowing them to employ cheats in-game. This particular trick has now been patched out also.

How to install an SSD

How to install an SSD

Even the best gaming PC will slow to a crawl eventually, whether your system has simply been standing the test of time or you’ve been stuck on an old hard drive. Fortunately, you can escape the sluggish confines of a hard drive pretty easily if you know how to install an SSD.

SSDs are becoming increasingly affordable and progressing towards a price parity with their disk-based counterparts. Even so, hard drives still hold the crown for best value per GB, especially for PC users with slower internet speeds that don’t have the luxury of regularly uninstalling. Those that can justify the premium of an SSD, however, will see that the newer technology provides an astronomical leap in performance, loading apps, games, and Windows significantly faster. Upgrading your RAM capacity with a set of the best gaming RAM can drastically improve OS performance, too.

This might sound tempting, but things aren’t as quite as simple as buying the best SSD for gaming available and plugging it in. There are compatibility issues that you need to watch out for and hurdles to navigate when it comes to swapping out your main system drive. But with your trusty screwdriver in hand, we’ll walk you through everything you need to know about SSD installation.

Half-Life with the TikTok narrator is as disturbing as you'd expect

A Half-Life modder has redubbed the voice lines in the intro for Valve's storied shooter using TikTok's auto-generated text-to-speech narrator, and it is equal parts appropriate and cursed.

As PC Gamer spotted, modder TheFloofierLove recently uploaded the aptly named TikTok Transit to GameBanana, splicing a little bit of our own technological landscape into the prophetic world of Half-Life. With the de facto voice of TikTok overseeing Black Mesa's tram system, you can finally live out a modernized scientific dystopia – you know, one where you can actually do something about it on account of being Gordon Freeman.

"Good morning, and welcome to the Black Mesa transit system. This automated train is provided for the security of the Black Mesa research facility personnel," the uncanny TikTok android woman says in a sample clip for the mod, somehow nailing a sterile laboratory tone that the app's text-to-speech function explicitly wasn't designed for.

"Why does this exist?" this modder says of their own creation, echoing my immediate reaction to this inexplicably fitting mod. "Because I got bored and found out that you don't actually need TikTok to generate the voice clips."

Boredom: the mother of countless great mods. You can try this mod by simply dropping its folder into Half-Life's main Valve folder, then accessing it under custom games. TheFloofierLove notes that they've only tested it with Xash3D, so your mileage with the GoldSrc version of the game may vary.

Speaking of weird Half-Life mods that somehow work: Half-Life: Year of the Dragon drops old Gordon for Spyro the dragon, and it looks incredible in motion.
